Bezel: Original perfect 200 steel bezel.

Case: Slightly polished case in good general condition. Serial numbers and reference perfectly visible. No significant shocks or scratches on the case. Case back in perfect condition.

Dial: Rare original and unrestored Paul Newman black step dial. The tritium dots are all present in very good condition with a superb yellow patina and very thick still react to UV and fall just after. The hands match well. Original unrestored tritium. T swiss T right produced only for ref 6262 and 6264 only 1 year. The rarest of all Paul Newman dial the one used to add the oyster on the oyster sotto.

Bracelet: Riveted steel bracelet in good condition, endlink 57.

Accessories: Original English papers and revision papers but refused by Rolex in 1979 and 2012 accompanied by a letter from the first owner accompanied by a little anecdote on the purchase of his watch from HL Browns in Doncaster, England on 6 / 12/1975.

Our opinion: The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model is a sports chronograph launched in 1963 by the Rolex SA company. The Cosmograph Daytona is part of the professional watch category within the Rolex range. It was originally designed for racing drivers. Four generations of Daytona saw the light of day in 1963, 1988, 2000 and 2016 respectively. The first had a manual winding movement, the second with an automatic movement and the third and fourth with a Rolex manufacture movement . The world record at auction is a Rolex Daytona that belonged to Paul Newman and sold at Philips in NYC for $ 17.75 million in 2017. The original is therefore the 4-digit version of which it is part and in addition in Paul Newman the holy grail of any collector. The Paul Newman daytona ref 6262 is one of the rarest references at Rolex because it was only produced 1 year before the new Valjoux 727. A major piece in such a rare Rolex collection with its box, papers and provenance.
