Our opinion : The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model is a sports chronograph launched in 1963 by the Rolex SA company. The Cosmograph Daytona is part of the professional sports watches category within the Rolex products. It was originally designed for racing drivers. Four generations of Daytona saw the light of day in 1963, 1988, 2000 and 2016 respectively. The first had a manual winding movement, the second with an automatic movement and the third and fourth with a Rolex manufacture movement. The world record at auction is a Rolex Daytona that belonged to Paul Newman and sold at Philips in NYC for $ 17.75 million in 2017. So, the original is the 4-digit version which this one is part of. Ours is in perfect condition with little polish with a nice silver sigma dial and the tritium dots have a superb patina. Great watch!
