Our opinion : The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model is a sports chronograph launched in 1963 by the company Rolex SA. The Cosmograph Daytona is part of the professional watch category within the Rolex line. It was originally designed for racing drivers. Four generations of Daytona were released in 1963, 1988, 2000 and 2016 respectively. The first was fitted with a manual winding movement, the second with an automatic Zenith winding movement and the third and fourth with a Manufacture Rolex movement. . The world auction record is a Rolex Daytona that belonged to Paul Newman and sold at Philips in NYC for $17.75 million in 2017. The original is therefore the 4-digit version of which this one is part. Ours is in perfect not so much polished state of conservation with a dial where the counters have taken on a beautiful two-tone patina and very sought after on these models because they are quite rare and the tritium points have a superb patina. These vintage models are only slightly more expensive than the new mass-produced ceramics and absolutely not common, so for how much longer!
