ROLEX DAYTONA REF 6241 BLACK DIAL BIG DAYTONA from 1968

Our opinion: The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model is a sports chronograph launched in 1963 by the company Rolex SA. The Cosmograph Daytona is part of the professional watch category within the Rolex line. It was originally designed for racing drivers. Four generations of Daytona were created in 1963, 1988, 2000 and 2016 respectively. The first was equipped with a manual winding movement, the second with an automatic winding movement and the third and fourth with a Rolex manufacture movement . The world record at auction is a Rolex Daytona that belonged to Paul Newman and sold at Philips in NYC for $17.75 million in 2017. The original is therefore the 4-digit version of which this is a part and moreover in Paul Newman the holy grail of any collector. The Paul Newman daytona ref 6241 is one of the most beautiful vintage daytona because this reference is very rare and especially with a non-Paul newman dial and marked “daytona” at the top, riveted steel bracelet, smooth pushers, MK1 bakelite bezel and valjoux 722 movement -1. Beautiful unpolished box! A daytona reference that almost only exists in newman configuration so few watches have come out of Rolex. A major piece in a Rolex collection!
