Our opinion: The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona model is a sports chronograph launched in 1963 by the company Rolex SA. The Cosmograph Daytona is part of the professional watch category within the Rolex line. It was originally designed for racing drivers. Four generations of Daytona were created in 1963, 1988, 2000 and 2016 respectively. The first was equipped with a manual winding movement, the second with an automatic winding movement and the third and fourth with a Rolex manufacture movement. The world record at auction is a Rolex Daytona that belonged to Paul Newman and sold at Philips in NYC for $17.75 million in 2017. The original is therefore the 4-digit version of which this one is part. Ours is in perfect very fat case and condition with a dial where the counters are still very white because they have often been blackened by time and the tritium points have a superb patina. Great example at a great price considering the service pushers and bezel.
