Case : Very little polished case which keeps its original shape with still very present and sharp angles. The watch must have been little worn. Very visible chamfers and very well-preserved case. Original BREVET crown and red triangle insert in very good condition and original so rare!

Dial : Very rare chapter ring gilt lacquer, 4 lines certified chronometer, perfect tropical, Swiss only, superb patina with its original radium which reacts to UV and the Geiger counter and the hands which match well. Ultra-rare dial the GRAIL of Submariner collectors, the latest auctions results attest to it.

Our opinion: The submariner called “James Bond” or even big crown is the first version of the submariner from the 50s, a real tool watch used by divers and in the first James Bond movies with Sean Connery. Case without crown guard gives it a vintage look but so modern for the 50s, further proving that Rolex has always been ahead of its time in terms of tool watches. Magnificent exemplary of the BIG CROWN James Bond reference 6538. Considered by many as a GRAIL with its 4 tropical lines and its red triangle insert. The peculiarity of these models is that they are mounted on very rare and often in poor condition lacquered dials. This one is perfect, just marvelously weathered going on very rare caramel tones to have such a light coloring and with its beautiful red triangle insert often replaced. An exceptional vintage and collector’s watch from the 50s, the famous James Bond with its large crown in its rarest configuration! A must have in any serious collection.
